“While the modern medical community attempts to provide a “specialist” in every field, they often fail to realize the most important thing about the human body – its interconnectedness. As humans we are deeply connected. We are physical, emotional, and spiritual. We are connected to our communities, our environment, our food, and our neighbors. All of life is deeply interconnected, as is our health. Full health cannot be obtained when we miss this truth and separate it into pieces. At Continuum Healing we search to work with the root of an issue, instead of simply masking the symptoms. We understand each client not as a disease but as a person.”
Living things have a natural ability to heal themselves. When properly functioning, our bodies promote self-cleansing and self-repair, and, therefore, self-healing. While modern medicine spends much of its time focused on killing germs, bacteria, and viruses, naturopathy aims to bring the body back into balance, making it strong and resistant against disease. Naturopathic medicine finds its answers in nutrition, ancient herbs, emotional health, and restoring balance to the body.
The goal of naturopathy is to develop optimal wellness for each client. Although our naturopaths are trained to treat acute and chronic disease, prevention and wellness are the ultimate goals at Continuum Healing.
What will my naturopathic appointment be like?
Continuum Healing has caring naturopaths who believe that in order to help they first must hear, see, and spend time with whoever seeks their care. Based in the principles of naturopathic medicine, our practitioners seek to assist the body in coming back to its true state of health.
Our naturopaths value connection and seek to bring health and wholeness back into your life starting with the initial interaction. Instead of being another client rushed through an appointment, your concerns are heard. You should expect to spend around 1.5-2 hrs with all of our naturopathic practitioners during your initial appointment. During this consultation you will have plenty of time to share your concerns and your own understanding of what’s happening within your body. Naturopathy treats the whole person, not an illness, so your thoughts and concerns are of importance at Continuum Healing.
Along with hearing your thoughts and concerns, practitioners will do a complete assessment of your health. The consultation could include fingernail, tongue, and facial diagnosis along with muscle response testing, iridology and sclerology. These ancient tools of observation help to detect a consistent theme of imbalance in the body that can then be addressed through a specific health program put together for you.
The program that you and your naturopath co-create may include changes such as:
While some naturopaths send people out the door with bags of supplements, Continuum Healing believes that healing comes from right food choices, avoiding toxic substances, and emotional health. Supplements are used as a means to help bring the body back into balance while we learn to live, eat, and love well.
All of these tools and remedies seek to discover and treat the underlying strengths and weaknesses within your system. This naturopathic approach often yields great results allowing dedicated clients to find a sense of wellness and health that had been missing.
After your initial appointment a follow-up consultation can be scheduled anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months out depending on your specific needs. These appointments usually last about 45-60 minutes. Our naturopaths have found success working with clients dealing with a wide range of symptoms including: digestive disturbances, allergies, candida/fungal overgrowth, anxiety, depression, heavy metal poisoning, lowered immune systems, rashes, infertility, reproductive concerns, headaches, constipation, children’s wellness, nutritional deficiencies, and many others. Clients often say that working with our naturopaths has helped them to “connect the dots,” allowing them to understand and treat their health challenges in a more effective way.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for your initial consultation to fill out paperwork, and bring any medication or supplements that you are currently taking.
